Wish List

Listed below are items that would help things run more smoothly and benefit health and learning in Room 8. I'll remove items as they come in, and add to the list as needed.

  • Digital Camera (a used one that still works fairly well would be great - the classroom ipad is bulky to take to the garden or on a field trip!)
  • Emergency LED Lanterns (maybe up to four 4 for a power outage?) This light seems to be a good one, especially at the current price ($22). Currently, we have one flashlight for the classroom
  • Reward Pencils (Dixon Ticonderoga - fun colors, please!)
  • Dust rags - maybe something like this?
  • healthy, individually-wrapped snacks (nut-free)
  • Pennant from your college or university (see announcements)
  • Model railroad cars - I've made the initial purchases for a lesson on the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad - 2 sections of track (HO and N gauge) and a tank car for each. *Thanks to a Room 8 family, we now have an HO scale engine and tender* They will be a good start to demonstrating what "gauge" means, and why Nevada County built a narrow gauge. The lesson might be enhanced with a few more cars - maybe an engine & tender, a boxcar, a hopper, or a caboose. These should be inexpensive (used is great), and the engine does not need to run (we won't even have powered track) - when I stopped by Swasey's Hardware & Hobbies to get started, and Mark has loads of options. Thanks for helping to make history fun!
