Weekly Update June 5-8

Shhhh. It's not the last week of school. Ok, it is, but let's not talk about it. I'm still in denial. Because, you see, we are still learning a lot and having so much fun and there are adventures out there that we have not had yet. But alas, my time with your darling kiddos it up. It is time for them to move on to the next step in their education. But, I'm just saying, I am not ready. For we have had an amazing journey. There have been some hard time, but so many more amazing times. Their growth has been amazing, both as students and as little people. And they will be missed. I have told my students over the years, once they are my kiddos, they are always my kiddos. I will always be there to help them in their future. I will always love to hear how they are doing. For we have been on this most amazing journey together.

Now on to the update...

We will have a final busy week to include our Eagle Day Activities and Pizza Lunch on Wednesday. Please remember to have them wear good shoes, sunscreen and bring a water bottle on Tuesday. They will not need a lunch.

We completed our final Reading Log last Friday, June 2, but I will be asking the students to read nightly for homework. They will not be asked to record their reading. I am hoping they will enjoy their book so much they will continue to read over the summer! No reading logs will be turned in this week.

Thank you for your support this school year. It has been my pleasure getting to know you and your children. Have a wonderful summer vacation!

Weekly Update May 22-26

Last week was such a beautiful culmination of all of the hard work your kiddos have been doing. They did a fantastic job at their performance on Wednesday night. I was so proud of them! My eyes kept filling with tears as I watched how far they have come this year. Then we had the best weather for our field trip to Coloma. Thanks to all of the chaperones who helped out. The kids have learned all year about the gold rush, and finally got to see all of the history in action!

Tomorrow is our day to go to the Book Fair!

Mission Boards are due this Monday.  We will be sharing these during class on Tuesday and Wednesday. Please do not send in extra credit mission projects until Thursday.

Tuesday we visit the school garden for hands-on science.

On Wednesday, we will attend a fun assembly called the Impossible Show.

This week, kids will have spelling practice for Spelling Unit 7.2 but they will not be tested on this unit.  We have Open house on Thursday, so we don’t want kids to be doing homework on Thursday night, so there will be no test on Friday.

We hope that everyone will be able to make it to Open House on Thursday.  There are lots of things happening that night!  We have the book fair, food trucks, and classrooms are open to show what we have been working on!  The book Fair will be open at 5:00 and classrooms will be open at 6:00.

Please check with your child to see if he/she has met his/her AR goal.

Here is our schedule for June 7th: We have Eagle Day rotations in the morning (we still need some helpers!). Then at 11:30 we will have our pizza lunch and potluck. Please send in $3 for pizza this week. Thank you for sending in bills. We are not able to take checks and since I collect for both classes, it makes it tricky when we have lots of change. Here is the sign up if you are able to help.

This coming weekend is Memorial Day weekend.  On our initial school calendar, it was a four day weekend, but please remember that it is only a three day weekend.  We used one of our “snow days” for bad weather, so we have to make that day up on Tuesday, May 30.   So, school will be in session on Tuesday, May 30!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Weekly Update May 15-19

I hope that all of the moms had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! My sister and her family were out from Oklahoma and we had a wonderful visit!

Please make sure that kids are working on their Mission Boards.  These are to be completed at home and returned from May 16-May 22. Please do not send in extra credit projects until May 25th.

We hope that everyone will be able to make it to Open House on Thursday, May 25.  There will be a lot happening that night at our school.  There will be three food trucks and the book fair will be open in the library!  We are also excited for you to see all of the projects that we have been working on!!

We will be testing on Spelling 7.1 and Vocabulary 7.1 & 7.2 on Friday. We are still doing reading logs this week, but light to no math homework (depending on how much your kiddo finishes in class) so students may work on mission boards.

Kids do need to make sure that they are staying on top of their AR points.  Please ask your child how he/she is doing with working toward his/her AR goal.  Quite a few kids have already met their end of the trimester goals!  Students need to meet their goals by June 2.

Eagle Day contracts went home in Thursday Folders. They are due by June 2, 2017. To attend, students must have less that nine refocuses from May 16- June 6. Also, all work from 5/16-6/2 must be completed and up-to-date.
