December 9-13, 2019

We had another wonderful week! Things are going very well in class. This past week we read in our REACH magazine about how elephants communicate. Students also learned how electrical switches work, and how to tell the difference between conductors of electricity and insulators during our hands-on FOSS science experiments. Your children are amazing! I am so happy to have had the opportunity to see their faces light up as they made new and exciting discoveries. It was really awesome!

This upcoming Wednesday, December 11, we will visit the Mistletoe Mall. Please send your child to class with their shopping list and money in an envelope clearly labeled with their name and teacher. We will visit the mall from 10:45-11:15. Please help your child fill out a shopping list for their trip. Remember to include family, friends, neighbors, whomever the children want to buy gifts for. All gifts are brand new and priced between 25 cents and $15, so please send money accordingly for your child to purchase their gifts. The gifts will be wrapped and ready for giving. Please keep in mind that there will be over 300 students visiting the Mistletoe Mall, and the mall is about gifting for others, not for the students to buy for themselves.

Spirit of the Holidays Toys for Tots Toy Drive is on now! If we bring in new unwrapped toys, we can donate them to less fortunate children and families this holiday season. Mr. Trevethick and his fire station have volunteered to pick up any toys we bring in for donation. We will collect toys in our classroom up to December 16, 2019. Thank you for your kind donation and for helping to teach our children the value of sharing with others!

We are on spelling week words 3.2. The Spelling City program is ready! Our spelling test will be on Thursday.

We completed the math mid-chapter checkpoint on division. Please continue to monitor your child's homework for understanding of division. We will have the final chapter test on division soon!

Our classroom party sign up genius was sent out this week. Thank you to everyone who has signed up already! I will be requesting all students to bring in a new or gently used 4th grade level book, wrapped in holiday paper, to pass out during our holiday party. Book gifts do not need a "to" and/or "from" name tag. They will be passed out randomly during a class game. I have extra gift wrapping paper in class, if needed.

Please continue to have your child read nightly. Even though AR goals are not required in our class, students still need to stay on top of reading and taking AR tests when available for their reading selection.  We have passed out coupons for prizes in the library!

Thank you so much for all of your help and support!
