It was wonderful meeting you at Back to School Night on Zoom! Thank you for logging in to get all the important information to help navigate a successful school year for your child. You are amazing and so are your wonderful children. It's going to be a great year!
We will work on Spelling List 1.1 this week. The words will go home on Monday and students will be taught how to use the Vocab A-Z program to help study on their Chromebook. Your child may check off work on the Spelling Contract and return it to me on Friday if they do not have internet access or if they need further practice. Students do not need to complete everything on the spelling contract. Please just make sure they are ready for the spelling test on Friday.
The students are getting ready for the Math Chapter 1 Mid-Chapter Checkpoint Test. Most students are doing quite well, however please check your child's homework nightly. The Think Central/Go Math ISE and Skill Sets are available to help.
Please have your child complete Xtra Math Facts daily on their Chromebook.
We began using our Social Studies Weekly magazine #1 this week. The magazine will be due on Wednesday, September 1. Please help as needed by showing your child how to use the text features to access answers accurately. (We have been practicing this in class.) Students should use their highlighter pen to note where their answers are found in the text. When we begin the science magazines keep a look-out for fun experiments to try at home. I will offer extra credit for extra work completed!
Please continue to have your child read nightly for the reading log and record the summary of the passage and initial. Reading logs are due every Friday. The students are doing great!
Thank you to everyone that sent in the wonderful classroom supplies. We are well stocked in pencils, paper, highlighters, and markers. We are now requesting clay for our California Regions Map Project.
Please remind your child to charge their Chromebook each evening and bring it to school each day. Please sign and return the contract and insurance form if you have not already done so. Thank you!
We will have our first Art Docent Lesson Wednesday with Mrs. Yoho. We did Square One Art, Zentangles, this week. More information will come home later about ordering merchandise with your child’s art on it!
