Homework Policy

Dear Parents,

I believe homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school, but I do not believe that homework should cause undue stress and family conflict. Please keep me posted if you feel the homework your child receives is too difficult or is taking more than one hour to complete each night.

I give homework because it is useful in reinforcing what has been taught in class, preparing students for upcoming lessons, extending and generalizing concepts, teaching responsibility, and helping students develop positive study habits.

I assign homework Monday through Thursday nights. Homework should take students NO MORE THAN one hour to complete each night, including studying for tests and working on long-range projects. Students will be given spelling lists on Mondays and will be tested on these words on Friday.

I expect students to do their best job on their homework and for it to be neat. Students should try to do the work on their own and only ask for help after they have given it their best effort.

Each morning, I will check to make sure that each student has all of their homework completed. If a student has not completed an assignment, students will be expected to complete the work at some point during their free time that day. If your child routinely does not complete homework assignments, I will contact you.

I believe that it is important to reward students who have their homework completed on time. Each day, students will receive a stamp for homework completed. Students who earn their stamps for the entire month will receive a variety of rewards.

Thank you for your support with homework completion!
