Nestled in the hills of a pristine countryside valley, surrounded by oak and pine trees, Alta Sierra Elementary is located just six miles south of the historic town of Grass Valley, California. As beautiful as our surroundings are, it is the nurturing feel of our close-knit community that is one of our greatest strengths. Our team of teachers,
parents, administrators, and staff strive daily to achieve our goals of inspiring our students to value their education, to respect others, and to do their best. Having been recognized as a California Distinguished School as well as a National Blue Ribbon School, and most recently, an Honor Roll School,  it would seem that we are clearly achieving these goals.

Alta Sierra School has a strong academically based program, enriched by a variety of activities and curriculum in art, music, experiential learning, and science.
