2020 - A Dedication from your principal
The year started off as all years have done
With Laughter, new friends, new clothes and such fun.
Playing two touch and tag
Remember The Color Run
And Rally Round the Flag?
An Eagle, you found, you were quick to become
Be kind,
Be a good sport,
Include everyone,
Then,
A rumor of a great wind was blowing.
The month of October, usually glowing
With full moons and pumpkins, orange leaves on the trees
Turned dark, and still with no electricity!
Yes, I must say,
You were the first to live through a PSPS day!
A few days out of school seemed novel and fun
But the tv and fridge and A/C didn’t run!
Whew! November came and back to routine;
Morning announcements and events in the O.C.
Bring on the traditions of Mistletoe Mall,
Holiday performances, art and all
A.R and Caught ya’s growth a plenty
And then the calendar turned to 2020
The Space Race was a fun competition,
You all cheered when the points were given
You wanted that scepter to show off your skills
Of giving space to each other both up and down hills.
Who was that judge that gave one point or two?
I think it was Mrs. O or Mrs. Perillioux.
In February, you continued to grow and succeed
The Lions Club reading contest was intense indeed!
So much math and writing and reading,
We were excited to see where this year was leading.
Two thirds of the school year was over
Another “first” was just around the corner
March thirteenth became the last day,
The last day in a classroom anyway.
Learning changed from school room to your room
From your school desk to your teacher’s Zoom.
Art and project through emails we show
Announcements and jokes were now on video.
Virtual spirit days and Zoom
Packets and google classroom.
Those are all great but can never replace
Hearing your voice and seeing your face.
We will be ready to see you next year.
You have the foundations when you return here
And if you don’t know how to do it
Just say..
“I just don’t know this….YET.”
