Oct. 28-Nov. 1, 2019

It was wonderful meeting with so many of you during our parent/teacher conferences! Happy Fall Break! I hope everyone enjoys their time off this week!

We will start spelling 2.3 when we return from the break on Oct. 28. The words are in Spelling City and will be available to students on Friday, Oct. 18 for early review.

We will start the week with a fun chef visit! I think it will be a wonderful way to ease back into the regular school routine! Please see the sign up genius if you would like to join us.

Students may dress in costume for our annual Alta Sierra Halloween Parade first thing on the morning of October 31. Please send regular clothes for your child to change into at snack recess. This way their costumes will be in good shape for their after school/evening celebrations!

Our wonderful art docent, Mrs. Yoho, will be joining us for a special art presentation and activity after snack recess on Halloween!

Thank you so much to everyone who signed up for our Halloween party supplies! Please begin sending in items you signed up for on Monday. We will start our party on Thursday, Oct. 31 with set up at 12:15, and students will enter the classroom at 12:30. I look forward to meeting with our wonderful parent volunteers at 12:15 in room 23!

Please remember to remind your child to continue working toward passing their multiplication facts on the Xtra Math program. We will have a celebration for all students who pass before November 15! Congratulations to Claire, Mason, Molly, Chloe, Adelina, Landon, Amy and Brooke for passing their multiplication facts already!

We will begin studying multiplying 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers in class this week. Please remember, "The parents are always right!" I will show students how to break apart numbers in class to introduce them to partial products and mental math strategies, and then we will learn the traditional method for multiplying. Please jump right into regular multiplication (a.k.a. the regrouping method) with your child if that is more comfortable for your family when completing the homework assignments.

We will have the Jog-A-Thon rewards celebrations on Wednesday, October 30. Some children were given their invitation/reminder in class to take home on Friday, October 18, if they turned in a certain amount in pledges. Thank you EVERYONE for supporting our school!

Please remember, students will not attend school on Friday, November 1. It is a PD day for teachers.

Thank you all again for all of your support and for sharing your children with me! Enjoy your Fall Break!
