April 8-12, 2019

Spring is in the air! Thank you to everyone who signed up to send in items or to volunteer for our class party on Friday. I am still looking for 2 more volunteers to decorate cookies, hide eggs, or decorate bags with the children. It will be a fun day!

We are well into our Mission reports. You can view your child's progress on their Google Doc. All students have already typed sections for "Founding," "Early History," and "Early People." A few students have not completed these three sections in class, so If you notice your child's is missing, please have them work on catching up from home. I have already gone over the directions for this in class, but if your child was absent they will need to keep up with the research and report on their Google Doc from home.  We will work on the design of the mission and add to our fun facts in class this week.

We finished our novel, Island of the Blue Dolphins in class. It was amazing! The children really loved it! Many cried for the loss of Rontu, but rejoiced when Karana found and trained her new puppy, Son of Rontu! We will complete a class project to accompany this novel in class this week.

Reminder...If your child has not passed all levels of Xtra Math, please support your child and help them to pass their math facts.  You can look at your child’s account, and quiz them on facts that they have not mastered.  Please make sure your child is doing Xtra Math a minimum of 5 days a week if they have not passed the Multiplication section. Thank you so much for your help and support with this!  It is crucial that your child master his/her math facts by fourth grade.  If your child does not master all levels by the end of fourth grade, your child is behind. Students will attend Study Hall to work on their Xtra Math facts if they have not passed the Multiplication set by the end of Spring Break. It is so important.

This week in Social Studies, the 4th graders will read about The End of the Mission System in their Studies Weekly magazine.

We will have an Art Docent presentation on Wednesday from Mrs. Yoho!

The Sign Up Genius for our April 27 Carnival activity is now posted!  I am asking parents to please help run the station in 30 minute time slots. Please sign up if you are interested in helping with this important fund raising event.  Thank you so much!
