May 6-May 10, 2019

May 6 - May 10, 2019

We had an amazing field trip to Sierra Streams in Nevada City on Thursday! Thank you, parents, who volunteered your time to join us on this educational adventure! Due to the field trip, the Thursday folder went home on Wednesday. Please return the folder to school on Monday if you haven’t done so already. I hope you found the Mission Report/Board letter in the folder. It has a check-off list of items students should include on their Mission Board. They have been working very hard on this project and I can hardly wait to see the final project! Mission Boards are due on Friday, May 10. If your child elects to the Extra Credit piece to share with our families at Open House, they will be due on the morning of Open House, Thursday, May 16.

We will continue CAASPP testing on Wednesday, May 8, 8:15-10:15. Thank you for signing up to send in testing snacks! Please send them to class at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday. It is important students rest well Tuesday night, and have a healthy breakfast on Wednesday morning. Our second test will continue ELA (English/Language Arts) with a “Performance Task.” This week we will begin testing at 8:15 a.m., which is 30 minutes earlier than our test began last week! Please help to have your child arrive to school on time.

We will have spelling 7.1 this week. You will find the words and activities on Spelling City. Students will take the spelling test on Thursday, May 9 in class.

We will take our Chapter 10 math (geometry) test this week on angles, classifying triangles by their sides and by their angles, quadrangles, lines, rays, symmetry, and patterns. Your child can review the concepts on Think Central/Go Math under “My Library”, click on “the lady in the red hat”, and find the skill sets to practice.

Mrs. Yoho will be joining us on Wednesday afternoon for one of her wonderful Art Docent presentations.

Red Reading Folders are due on Friday, May 10, and they will cover 2 weeks, not the usual one. (We had our field trip last Thursday, and Professional Development Day on Friday.)

We will have a very full week! As always, thank you everyone for all of the help and support you have given the students in our classroom this year. You are truly amazing!

Looking Ahead…
