September 9-13, 2019

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! The students worked hard this short 4-day week and they accomplished so many wonderful things! I am looking forward to the students completing the Xtra Math Multiplication Facts for our 4th and 5th grade contest! Please refer to the Xtra Math Facts Contest Letter that went home in this week's Thursday's folder. Good luck, students! You can do it!

I want to thank Molly's grandmother Iris for volunteering in our classroom on Thursdays, and Zachary's mom plans to join us on Tuesdays beginning Oct. 1st! Welcome! Please email me if you would also like to volunteer. Your help really makes a difference in the wonderful school program we offer our children!

I am looking for a volunteer to send in Chinet oval "platters, classic white, 12 5/8 inch x 10 inch" paper plates for our class map project of the California Regions. Please also see the recipe under "Clay Recipe" in my post. We will be able to begin the project once we have enough clay to start. We are reading about California Regions in our Studies Weekly magazine this upcoming week, so I hope to have plenty of clay sent in by Friday, September 13th! I will send home a "hard copy" of the clay recipe with the students' agenda on Monday.

Students sampled "lemon cucumbers" from the garden this week. They were very interesting! Please be sure to ask you child about them!

Our class will be going to the garden on Tuesday, September 17, from 9:30-10:00. We will go to the garden on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. We will need at least one parent volunteer to sign up to be our garden volunteer this year. Please let me know if this is something you would be interested in doing. Thank you!

This week we started our math test on Place Value, Adding and Subtracting up to 6-digits with regrouping, and we will complete the test on Monday. Students can access Think Central/Go Math Skill Sets and ISEs to help them practice at home on the computer.

Reminder: Jog-A-Thon is coming up on the morning of October 4. Thank you Iris Bilodeau for volunteering! We REALLY appreciate you! We are looking for additional volunteers, so please email me or Lyn Ward at [email protected] if you would like to join us. We need helpers to work the jog-a-thon shifts, AND we need lap counters. Thank you!

Students did well on their first Spelling City 1.1 test! They should study words 1.2 for their next test on Thursday, September 12. The words are already logged into Spelling City.

Our PTC is asking that each family donate $20 for the year to help with the buses for field trips.  If you could please send that in it would help our school so much. Thank you to the families who have already donated! Our first field trip is scheduled for Thursday, November 21, to the Maidu Museum and Historic Site in Roseville.

Friday September 13th is movie night!

Thanks so much for all of your help and support! I look forward to a wonderful week with our amazing students!
