SAVE THE DATE - March 3 Denim and Diamonds Spring Auction Fundraiser

Tickets on sale now!
Wear your favorite jeans and brightest bling to the Alta Sierra PTC annual spring fundraiser March 3, 6:00PM-10:00PM at the Alta Sierra Country Club.
Enjoy a fun parents' night out while supporting our children's education. All funds go to the Alta Sierra Elementary School PTC.
$25 per person/$40 per couple
There will be live and silent auctions, hors d'oeuvres and desserts. Enjoy live music by Amanda Gray.

Childcare is available on site but limited to the first 20 children. Pre-register in the school office.

Parent Info Meeting for 2018-19 Kindergartners March 15

It's time to start thinking about next year! Parents of incoming kindergartners (and transitional kindergartners) can come learn about the program, ask questions and pick up paperwork Thursday, March 15 at 6 p.m. in the multipurpose room.

Reading Contest - sponsored by the Lions Club.

Students that take and pass Accelerated Reader quizzes between February 1 and March 9, will earn a drawing ticket. The quiz must be at their reading level and passed with 80% or higher score.
The tickets will be placed in grade level drawings for $50 Best Buy gift card.

2nd Choice Lunch Option for 1st-5th grade.

Alta Sierra is adding the second choice option to our school lunch menu!
Beginning February 5th, students may choose between the regular school lunch menu offering and a cold lunch option. Each day of the week will have a different cold option for the month.
Take a look at the new menu. The second choice is on the very top.
Teachers will be taking lunch count with this option included.
This option is available for grades 1-5. If this pilot is successful, we will extend it to kindergarten.

Changes to the After School Rec Program

Due to the increased number of late student pick-ups from the After School Recreation Program, the late fee is increasing effective January 1, 2018. The new rate will be $10.00 plus $1.00 per minute for each student.

We had a terrific assembly to kick off Character Counts. Ask your child what they thought of the assembly

The six pillars are; Trustworthiness; Respect; Responsibility; Fairness; Caring; and Citizenship. CHARACTER COUNTS! recommends always using these pillars in this specific order to all the use of the acronym of T.R.R.F.C.C. to help remember each pillar.

Food Drive Donations due Friday, Nov. 17

Help our kids help others! Our students take part in the KCRA Kids Can! Food Drive. Please send non-perishable, non-glass items to school by this Friday. Canned meats (tuna, chicken, turkey, chili), pasta and pasta sauce, beans, rice, healthy cereals, peanut butter and baby good are the most-requested items.

Harvest of the Month with Mrs. Lori Long

The start of October means another harvest of the month from Sierra Harvest. This week we will have lunchbox peppers from JSM Organics. They will be very sweet and the kids should enjoy them. I am picking up the produce early and will hopefully have them all sorted and distributed by the end of the day tomorrow.
