Room 22 News

It was great to see and meet many of you at Back to School Night. I am looking forward to working with each of you in order to make this a great year for your children.

We are off to a great start as the kids are getting back into the swing of school very quickly. We are reviewing our Math and English Language Arts from last year for the next couple of lessons. Once we are done with our review, we are off to the races as our core subjects move very quickly. If your child starts to struggle with any of our new skills, please reach out to me ASAP as the lessons will build on each other and I do not want anyone to be left behind.

If your student is interested in participating make sure to fill out the paperwork and turn it in to the office or bring it to practice on Tuesday. Cross Country is for 4th and 5th graders only.

Losing The Training Wheels
During the last trimester I will be more strict with time spent on assignments, late work, and "No Name" papers. Students are given a reasonable amount of time to complete an assignment in class. Late work and absent work will only be accepted for a week after the assignment. "No Name" papers will be thrown away. I want all students going to 5th grade will the habits and tools that will help them to be successful.

Good Morning!!
I hope you all get out and enjoy the beautiful weather that is predicted for this weekend!! Your students continued to work hard this week even though we all were really tired from the time change!

Please make sure you sign and return the report card envelope.

Please continue to work on your students' multiplication facts as well as their daily reading.

In an effort to make sure your child does not fall behind, please let me know when your child is absent and I will do my best to get them supplement work. Many of the daily things we are doing build on each other and when your child is absent they may have a hard time catching up.

Help Needed!!!!!
Sunday, April 14the the parents' club is sponsoring a Candy Land Themed Family Carnival/Festival. Our class will have a game and a basket. We will need parent volunteers to work at our game booth. A signup genius to help is below. You may sign up with your student as they can help as well.  Ashley Larsen (Remy & Rory's mom) has graciously volunteered to do our class basket. Below is information from Ashley about what is needed for our class basket. If you have any questions please let me know!  Thank you all for your help in making this wonderful fundraiser a success for all of us!!!

Hello Mulholland families,

Our PTC is hosting a Candyland Family Festival on April 14th and our class will need to donate a raffle basket for the auction. We have decided to go with a basketball themed basket.

In order to make this happen, we will need to collect a $5-$10 donation from each family. The proceeds earned from the auction will go directly to PTC. PTC pays for our school and community events, classroom supplies, flexible seating, field trips, classroom books, and many other things for our school.

We will need to collect funds by Friday, March 22nd. I have left an envelope in Mrs. Mulholland’s class for cash or you can Venmo me @Ashley-Larsen-26. Please include your child’s name or 4th grade in the Venmo notes (I am doing more than 1 basket).

Thank you for your support of our school and classroom. This is going to be a wonderful event!

Thank you,

Ashley Larsen

(Rory & Remy’s Mom)

School Carnival
This Sunday, April 14th is the school carnival. I would love to see you all there. The event is from 1-4 on Sunday. There will be carnival games, food, drinks, a live and silent auction. Our class has a basketball booth. If you or your child can help with our booth, it would be greatly appreciated. I will be there so feel free to drop off your student to work a shift. I have attached the signup genius link so you can see which time slots need to be filled. Thank you for those who already signed up.

Missions
Yes we will be doing Missions this year.  We are doing them a little different than from past years. The students will be doing them in groups and each person in the group will be responsible for completing a writing section as well as other pieces that will be on their board. The groups will work together to put their competed sections together on a poster. Our plan is to complete all work in class, but if your student falls behind, they will have to complete it at home. Missions will be randomly handed out, if you have a Mission you would like your student to have, please let me know and I will see what I can do.

Have a great weekend and I hope to see you on Sunday!!

Welcome to Spring and allergies!!

The weather this week has been so crazy. If you don't like it, just wait 5 minutes and it will change. Hopefully we have some nicer weather on the way.

State Testing

State Testing is fast approaching. We will start our testing the week of May 6th. Please make sure your child is in bed at a reasonable time as well as having a good breakfast to keep them awake and energized. These next few weeks will be long and exhausting. If your child does not already have a pair of headphones at school, if you could make sure they bring some in that would be wonderful. I have a few sets I can let them borrow, I just do not want them sharing headphones.

Missions

We are off and running with our Mission projects. An extra credit paper was sent home last week. Your student may do one or a couple of the projects. They do not have to do all of them. These extra credit projects are due Monday, May 13th. Please do not bring them in early.

Principal's Day Wednesday

In honor of Principal's Day, we are asking that all students wear a tie to school on Wednesday.

Coloma Field Trip

Our Field trip to Coloma is set for Thursday, May 23rd. We will be leaving school around 8:45 and are scheduled to arrive back to school by 2:00. Permission slips will be going home this week in Thursday's folders and they need to be returned NO LATER than Friday, May 10th. It is preferred to have the students bring their own sack lunch, however, if you would like your student to have hot lunch from school please e-mail by Tuesday, May 7th letting me know they will need a hot lunch for that day.
