Welcome!
Welcome to our class web page!
We are having a terrific time getting to know each other and sharing our fabulous summer experiences. Your children have adjusted nicely to the school routine, and their eagerness for learning is amazing! It is going to be a wonderful year!
Regular Homework
.
Extra Practice with our math concepts can be found online using the ISE under "Things to Do" and Skill Sets found in the "Library", click on the "Lady in the Red Hat." You can find these helpful web based tools on Student Links under "Think Central." The children have been practicing how to access these helpful tools, so they should be able to show you how to log on to the program.
Please check over your child’s math homework daily for accuracy and completeness. Studies show students learn better when they are given the opportunity to verbalize the steps taken to solve problems. Please allow your child this golden opportunity each evening when completing the math homework to explain to you their logic on a few select problems. If you notice an error, you will be able to catch it quickly before it becomes a habit that is difficult to break. Some of the concepts may seem tricky, so please know ANY strategy you show your child that works is worth learning and sharing in math class.
Xtra Math Fact practice is expected to be completed daily for points. If your child completes facts for 5 days/week they will receive 10 points (A+) for the week, 4 days = 9 points (A-), 3 days = 8 points(B-), 2 days = 7 points(C-), 1 day = 6 points(D-).

Thank you everyone for visiting our classroom for Open House! The children were so proud sharing their best work with all of our families! I am so proud of them! They have learned so much in fourth grade! It was a wonderful evening for everyone!
We will resume with the CAASPP Math test on Friday, May 24. Please remind your child to eat well and be well rested for our test on Friday. Testing begins first thing in the morning, so please help your child arrive to school on time.
We will have spelling 7.3 this week AND next week. I am allowing the children two weeks to study for the test because of our field trip to Coloma on Thursday, and because of the Memorial Day Holiday on May 27. You will find the words and activities for unit 7.3 on Spelling City. Students will take the spelling test on Thursday, May 30 in class.
Due to the upcoming CAASPP tests in math on May 24 and on May 29, I highly recommend the students review math concepts on Think Central/Go Math under “My Library”, click on “the lady in the red hat”, and find skill sets to practice. Students can review prior skills, as well as find new concepts we have not yet covered including measurement, area and perimeter! Class Hero is also available to reinforce Geometry.
Red Reading Folders are due every Friday. Students should remember to read and record their daily entries in their red reading folder and have them signed by a parent. We had four students forget their red folders this week, so they will need to return the red reading folder on Monday. Please ask your child if this includes them.
Students will also need to return their Field Trip permission slip to Coloma, and their End-of-the-Year Fun Day Contract on Monday if they haven’t turned it in already.
We have another very full week planned! The garden is scheduled for Tuesday after lunch, weather permitting. Please have your child wear shoes appropriate for the garden on Tuesday.
We will go to the James Marshall Gold Discovery Site on Thursday. The bus will leave promptly at 8:15 a.m. or sooner if possible. It is a long, windy drive and we want to have as much time to tour the park as possible. It is an incredible place to visit! I can hardly wait!

Extra Credit Mission Projects Due May 16th!
Below is a copy of a note that was sent home about a month ago. I am sending another copy in case you need it. Thank you!
Extra Credit Mission Projects Due May 16th!
PLEASE DO NOT BRING THEM IN EARLY
* Imagine you are a padre and write a two page-diary entry about a journey from your mission to a neighboring mission by horseback.
* Imagine you are a Native American and write a two page-diary entry about your feelings of life at the missions.
* Go to visit a mission. Take pictures and/or keep a diary of your trip. Put together a picture board, scrapbook, movie or Google slides presentation about your trip.
* Construct a model of your mission. Try to use materials that you already have at home. Please don’t purchase a mission kit or use any type of food (like sugar cubes) to construct your mission. We don’t want ants in our classroom. The base of the model (what the model sits on) may not exceed 24” x 24”.
* Draw a large (12” x 18”) picture of your mission using oil, water, or pastel paints, or colored chalk. Make sure to label your mission on the picture. You can ask me for this size paper.
* Enlarge a picture of your mission and cover as a mosaic with beans, colored rice, or small colored pebbles.
* Use any form of technology to make a presentation about your mission.
Be creative!
Please ask your teacher if you have any questions or need clarification. Remember that this is an extra credit project and it will be displayed at Open House on May 16th.
